My responsibilities encompassed guiding brainstorming sessions, offering design insights, and overseeing the implementation of concepts that embodied the multicultural spirit of jazz. The project timeline aligned seamlessly with Jazz at Lincoln Center’s seasonal schedule, structured into distinct phases of research, design exploration, and asset production. This systematic approach ensured the timely delivery of high-quality visual materials that amplified the message of jazz's global resonance.

My role as Assistant Director and Brand Designer for Jazz at Lincoln Center's Essentially Ellington 2023 competition, I spearheaded the creative vision to capture the essence of this historic event—a celebration of jazz, youth, and artistic legacy.

Our objective was clear: to encapsulate the excitement and emotional depth of the first in-person return of the competition, embodying the language of jazz as a vibrant and timeless expression of human experience. Collaborating closely with our creative team, I delved into the conceptualization of a compelling visual narrative that paid homage to Duke Ellington's enduring influence on jazz and the passionate dedication of today's emerging talents.

The journey began with sketching initial concepts and curating mood boards that reflected the celebratory atmosphere of a long-awaited reunion. Drawing inspiration from Ellington's legacy, we sought to weave a narrative thread that honored tradition while embracing the innovative spirit of young musicians dedicated to keeping jazz alive.
